“Aw Wendy. You should have seen all the people at the memorial service. The church had standing room only and people were packed in everywhere. There was laughter, tears, and much sadness. Stories of your laughter, cars crashed, peas, and elevators. Your kindness and strength.”

“You would have been amazed. You touched so many lives.”

“Where ever you are, I hope you know you were loved and still are.”

“She’s gone.”

“Shit. Shit. Shit…”

“She’s brain dead. They found no activity. She’s gone and her body doesn’t know it.”

“Aw fuck… Has he been presented with the decision? How’s he taking it?”

“He knows she’s gone. He’s thinking about what’s best for the boy.”

“Does the family agree? It’s his decision, but she’s their mom and daughter.”

“Surprisingly he’s listening to advice and making alert decisions. He’s as ready as he can be to let her go… God that’s awful to say. But the people who have been there from the beginning have come to terms and agree. It’s the late comers, her siblings, that are still wrapping themselves around the idea. He’s going to give it 24-48 hours.. then…”

“How the hell did this happen?”

……

“Hello God. Its me again. Comfort, help them please.”

“She’s still here. But it’s not good. They gathered the family for a meeting.”

“What? The results bad?”

“Yeah… and her liver shut down.”

“Aw shit…”

……….

“God, why? Wendy wake up!

“She made it through the night. Her blood count is coming up. Still no response from her though.”

“I heard they were going to do a EEG and put her on dialysis.”

“Yep.. Dad fed and changed Baby Boy’s diapers today. Kid just smiled, burped, and then went back to sleep. He’s so much larger than any of the other babies in NICU. It’s kinda funny to see.”

“If you … call.”

“Same.”

………….

“Oh God, help. Wendy wake up for this baby boy, he needs you and so does Dad.”
